About the Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority
The Watson Ramsbottom Partnership is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Full details can be found at their website: www.sra.org.uk.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) regulates more than 100,000 solicitors in England and Wales.
Their purpose is to protect the public
- by ensuring that solicitors meet high standards
- by acting when risks are identified
The solicitors' profession includes single-solicitor practices and huge firms with a global presence and thousands of lawyers. Solicitors also work in the justice system, in government and within companies. All solicitors follow the same professional principles and code of conduct. The SRA provides advice to help them do so.
Established in January 2007, the SRA was previously called the Law Society Regulation Board. They changed their name to emphasize their independence and to make what they do clearer.
The SRA is the independent regulatory body of the Law Society of England and Wales.
The following is a summary of their role.
The Law Society will strive to guarantee:
- To the public - access to high quality legal services.
- To solicitors - vigorous promotion of their interests.
- To society - a leading voice on law reform.
The Law Society aims to be:
- Accountable
- Objective • Transparent
- Inclusive
- Fair
- Honest
- Decisive

- Mutually respectful
We aim to use our position as an authoritative voice on law reform and legal services policy to promote equality and diversity in the law and the civil and criminal justice systems.
To this end:
- We campaign for access to justice for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups and individuals.
- We aim in all our work on law reform and legal services policy to promote equality, diversity and social cohesion.
