Immigration & Asylum

The head of the department is Ebrahim Foolat.  The department is based at our Blackburn office which holds a legal aid franchise (contract) for carrying out such work and deals with the majority of immigration cases in the East Lancashire Area.

The department also includes Diane Smith who is a legal executive and a Level 2 case worker, accredited by the Legal Services Commission.

From May 2005 lawyers specialising in immigration issues have had to be accredited by the Legal Services Commission. All our staff have undertaken the necessary training and obtained the necessary qualifications to ensure that they comply and are up to date on the public funding (formerly known as Legal Aid) regulations.

The staff speak Urdu and Gujarati and have close links with local interpreters for other languages.

The department has well established links with Barristers' Chambers dealing with immigration issues to enable us to provide clients with the best possible advice/representation.
