The joint heads of this department are John Swanney and Rachel Horman who are based at Great Harwood and Blackburn respectively. The firm holds a legal aid contract at each of our offices to undertake all aspects of this area of law.

We have an extensive domestic violence department (headed by Rachel) with very good relationships with the local refuges and women's aid charities and offices.

We have good links with local process servers who work together with the staff in the department to ensure that swift and speedy action is taken in respect of any cases which warrant emergency action.

We provide extensive home visits for clients who are not able to attend at the office for any reason and obviously discretion can be guaranteed.

John Swanney has been a member of the Children Panel for over 20 years. He and fellow Children Panel member Solicitor Val Shaw specialise in childcare work acting for children in conjunction with Court appointed Guardians representing the interests of the children.
